Akumal Norte is the beach area of Akumal. It is composed of a small village with food stores, restaurants, and a small hotel on the road into our private beach community of condominiums and homes. Nothing at the beach is higher than 3 stories by regulation and there are no commercial resort or hotel properties in the residential area.
The residential area is protected by a gate, manned 24/7, as well as a Guardia Nacional station, making it one of the most secure areas in the Cancun/Tulum corridor.
The Half Moon Bay beach is home to snorkeling and turtle watching, as the beach is a protected nest area for sea turtles. There are a half dozen small restaurants scattered along the beach road, so you can eat in or dine out. The Yal Ku Lagoon is within the secure area, with excellent snorkeling.
Activities in the area include visiting cenotes for swimming and scuba expiration, sport fishing in Half Moon Bay, visiting Tulum and Copa Mayan Ruins and a host of outdoor activities at both commercial parks like X-Carat and on individual day trips.
We can assist with local car rentals and van services that are very cost effective for adventures, as well as massage, childcare, chefs and other services. The condo is serviced every day by our dedicated local staff and the grounds and pool area are verdant and the most beautiful in Akumal.
